Founder of Alibaba, Jack Ma prepares to visit South Africa for the first time

The founder of Alibaba, the Chinese e-commerce giant, Jack Ma, is scheduled to visit South Africa for the first time. The conference aims to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing a new digital Africa and the role that the public sector, investors, entrepreneurs and educational organisations must play in this transformation. What is Alibaba and who is Jack Ma? Alibaba Group was established in 1999 by 18 people led by Jack Ma, a former English teacher from Hangzhou, China. Since launching its first website helping small Chinese exporters, manufacturers and entrepreneurs to sell internationally, Alibaba Group has grown into a global leader in online and mobile commerce. Its IPO 2014 made Jack Ma one of the wealthiest mean in Asia - for a while. Jack Ma is the founder of this organisation and for many, he is the epitome of an entrepreneur.
